OV66 ID Check
An ID verification process to help reduce quarantine for travel to Australia

If you're planning to take your dog or cat to Australia, your pet may be eligible for a reduced 10-day quarantine period (instead of 30 days) by completing the OV66 identity verification process.
What's involved?
-
Two independent identity checks carried out by different OV66-authorised Official Veterinarians from independent veterinary practices
-
Your pet's microchip is scanned and verified, and identifying features are recorded
-
A photo is taken of your pet with their microchip number displayed on a microchip scanner
-
An OV66 ID declaration is completed and submitted to the Australian authorities.
-
Both identity checks must be completed before the rabies blood test (RNATT).
-
The second OV66 vet may collect the rabies blood sample (RNATT) at the same appointment
FAQ's
Can both ID checks be completed on the same day?
-
YES
-
As long as the 2 OV66 vets conducting the ID Checks are from independent practices and the RNATT blood sample is taken after the 2nd ID verification, this can be done on the same day
Does the vet who does the 2nd OV66 ID Check have to be the one to take the RNATT sample?
-
NO
-
The RNATT blood sample can be taken by any OV66 vet BUT this just must be done after the 2nd OV66 ID Check
-
Example: OV66 Vet 1 completes ID check #1, thenOV66 Vet 2 completes ID Check #2, then OV66 Vet 1 (or another OV66 vet) can then take the RNATT blood sample
Can the vet who takes the RNATT blood sample help me with the rest of my export process?
-
Yes and no
-
The OV66 Vet who took the RNATT blood sample MAY administer pre-export parasite treatments and take the samples for any pre-export blood testing (DOGS ONLY)
-
BUT, the OV66 vet who took the RNATT blood sample MAY NOT complete your RNATT Declaration OR complete the DEFRA Export Health Certificate
